    1. There were two other brothers serving as well and they were sent home after the deaths. To sent 5 sons to war and lose 3. Unbelievable pain. Thanks so much for reading my post and leaving your comment. Hope you had a wonderful day!

  3. Such a sad thing to happen to these "boys", but I cannot begin to imagine of the pain your family endured. It reminds me of the movie "The Fighting Sullivans" The similarities are amazing. Tami Owens

  4. Hi Cheri, I love genealogy, and I love reading genealogy blogs. I don't currently have a genealogy blog, though I've recently started a blog on which I intend to share family stories and childhood memories (among other things).

Wow, your family sacrificed much for the cause of freedom! I can't even begin to imagine the pain of such incredible loss. We owe a great debt to men like the Roberts.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  5. Tami Owens mentioned The Fighting Sullivans. That is our family's annual Memorial Day film. From 1944, it's the story of the Sullivan family of Waterloo, Iowa, who lost all 5 of their sons, when their submarine went down in the Pacific. Some families paid a price I cannot even comprehend.
